January in February persists, and so what's a DJ supposed to do but fight back with awesome Canadian tunes.

Here's who helped warm our hearts this morning:

Ketamines, Ketamines, Stay Awake!;
Sexy Mathematics, Electronics, Feeling It All;
PolyEster Suicide, Holiday, Old Age;
Soft Serve, Sink Deep EP, Words;
Barzin, To Live Alone In That Long Summer, Without Your Light;
Mark Berube, Russian Dolls, Another Century;
The Poles, The Poles, The Pest;
Average Times, Average Times, Summer Nights;
Ken Aldcroft's Convergence Ensemble, Saskatoon (Basement 2007), The Yanks Are Coming;
Sheena Rattai, Farewell 274 - Winnipeg's Jazz Community Celebrates Aqua Books [Compilation], Yet To Be;
Midcoast, Steps, Steps Part 1;
Audrey Ochoa Quartet, Trombone & Other Delights, Zombie Apocalypse;
Corin Raymond, There Will Always Be A Small Time, If Wishes Were Horses;
Leonard Cohen, Songs of Leonard Cohen, The Stranger Song;
Gregory Hoskins Gary Craig, The Map of Above The Map of Below, It's Always Something;
Old Cabin, Old Cabin, Sandstone Daughter;
Her Harbour, Winter's Ghosts, Petunia;
Gunner & Smith, He Once Was a Good Man, River of Stone;
Poor Angus, Gathering, Gathering;
Old Man Luedecke, I Never Sang Before I Met You, Baby We'd Be Rich;
L.E.S., The Genesis, If Only;

Background noise was covered up in a masterful way with the beautiful strains of some old Canadian vinyl - specifically the Jazz group Contrevent from their offering titled Jeu de Paume. I promised you I would determine what Paume is in English - many thanks to our resident Francophone Chantal who tells me Paume is palm of hand, ergo the title of the vinyl in English is Game of Palm or Palm Game. The group's name Contrevent incidentally means Counter Wind.

Chase your winter blues away the inexpensive way … listen to CJSR.
